Naturopathic Medical
Education
Licensed naturopathic physicians (ND) attend a four-year, graduate-level naturopathic medical school that is recognized by The Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges (AANMC) and The Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME). Naturopathic medical students study the same basic sciences as an MD would and focus on holistic and non-toxic approaches to health that emphasize disease prevention and the restoration of health. In addition to their standard medical curriculum, their studies focus on clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathic medicine, physical medicine, psychology, and counseling. They are required to take two rigorous national board exams in order to obtain a license to practice in a state or jurisdiction as a primary care general practice physician.
